Instant Messaging Freedom is non-profit organization whose goal is to support free instant messaging software. A primary purpose of the organization is to manage the affairs of Adium, Finch, Gaim, Pidgin, and libpurple. This includes accepting tax-deductible donations, paying for web hosting, graphics, web site design, etc. It also includes protecting individual developers from lawsuits related to the software. It is important to note that we exist to assist the communities in developing their software; we do not control development.
